Quick look back but moving ahead

As we continue to just getting on with the job of finding forever homes for our dogs care, we thought we take a moment to look back and see just what Hear No Evil achieved in 2017!

So many new deafies came into care, we’ve had more vet visits than we can count, we’ve added many new adopters to our HNE family, we’ve supported countless families with deafies who weren’t adopted through HNE, we've added lots of new team members, we’ve attended a huge number of events, we've built some fabulous new relationships with other rescues, pounds and shelters and strengthened existing relationships, and we know we’ve made a lot of progress in raising awareness about deaf, deaf/visually impaired and deaf/blind dogs and cats.

We have also been lucky enough to gain thousands of new followers to our page and to have so many active supporters – including some amazingly generous souls (both new and long-term supporters) who have made donations of all sizes for our dogs this year – for surgeries, for Christmas presents, for adoption fees, for transport, and donations just to support our daily work. We appreciate every little bit of support we get, from the sharing of our posts to the generous donation of money and items and everything in between. Thank you to all of you who have helped us get through another year and helped us save so many more lives.

A huge thank you also goes to our incredible team – without all of you, we simply couldn’t do what we do each day. Our foster carers are the absolute backbone of our rescue and make it possible for us to continue ensuring as many deaf (and other special needs) dogs and cats as possible are given the chance at long and happy lives.

Sadly, we’ve had to farewell a few beautiful deafies as they crossed the rainbow bridge this year. Always the most devastating aspect of rescue. These precious souls remain in our hearts always and will never be forgotten.

Our biggest achievement for 2017 was without a doubt our was our record breaking annual adoption tally, a massive 47 adoptions, up from 31 the previous year.  Our biggest thanks of all for 2017 goes to the families of the 47 deafies who were adopted from HNE this year. These families all looked beyond a sensory deficit or two, saw these beautiful dogs and cats for just who they were and made a decision to welcome these divine deafies into their hearts and homes. Thank you all so very, very much!

We’ve got big plans for our little rescue over the coming year and we’re extremely excited to see just what we can achieve for deafies all over the country in the next 12 months and we hope that you an join us.

Update: We had so many comments from our 2017 adopters we thought we would show a few here.
