Rescue is always a team effort - not just within, but also across rescues. Today’s gorgeous adoptable dog is the perfect example of rescues coming together to help each other and to make a difference for a dog in need.
Earlier this year, HNE received a surrender request from Scout’s family. At the time, HNE had no suitable carers for Scout, but we knew she was an amazing dog, so we promised we’d find a way to help. As Scout is part bull terrier, we reached out to Adopt A Bully Rescue Inc hoping we might get lucky, but expecting that like all rescues, they would be full too and we’d get a polite “we’d love to help, but sorry we just can’t help right now”. Instead, within an hour of our request, the founder of Adopt A Bully was on the phone agreeing to not only welcome Scout into her rescue, but also personally into her home and she was already making plans to get Scout from Victoria to NSW. A trip that was made within 3 days of our initial request for assistance.
Scout has been in care with Adopt A Bully for around a month now and is absolutely ready to find her forever home - something that is a joint mission between HNE and Adopt A Bully.
Miss Scout is a nearly 12 month old bull terrier x greyhound x cattle dog and she is deaf.
Scout loves, loves, loves people – so much so that she absolutely must be a solo-dog in her new home. The idea of sharing her people with other dogs is one that Scout will not entertain for even a moment. She’s non-reactive around other dogs, but living with another dog is not an option for Scout.
Scout is also one of those fabulous rarities of a dog in need of a new home – she has absolutely no vices. She doesn’t jump up, doesn’t chew on anything she’s not meant to, nor does she think she’s got a budding career as a landscaper! Scout shows as much respect of her yard space and she does of her indoor space.
And when it comes to indoor space, that’s a must for Scout. She is not a yard-ornament and must have a family that will allow her access inside their home.
Scout is fully crate trained, has good basic manners and like all good deafies, she’s great with her signed commands. She’s got sit, wait and come down-pat and given she’s very food-motivated, she will be an easy candidate for lots of further training.
Scout loves her walks and she walks beautifully on leash. An absolute favourite pastime of hers is long bush walks and she’d make a brilliant companion for someone who likes to get out and about regularly to explore new walking tracks.
As she’s still young and a bit bouncy when she’s excited, Scout is suited to a home with older kids (10+). Scout would also do best in a home without cats or pocket-pets.
Scout is desexed, vaccinated, parasite treated (including heart-worm preventative with a confirmed negative heart-worm test) and microchipped.
Scout is currently located in Dubbo, NSW but is available for adoption across Australia, with transport costs to be paid by her adopter.
HNE and Adopt A Bully are working together to find Scout her perfect family. Adoption applications are to go to Adopt A Bully via the adoption application form available on their website – www.aabrescue.com/adoption-form while HNE will provide any required ongoing training support/assistance to Scout’s adopters.
