Baby's Got Blue Eyes

Medium Border Collie X

Hi I’m Lyric…as in a song lyric. It’s a cool name for a pretty girl like me don’t you think?

People always comment on how beautiful my blue eyes are and how gorgeous I am but I’m not just a pretty girl, I’m super clever too.

I’m a 7-month-old border collie x and I came into foster care only a few months ago having lived all my life on a rural property. My owners were worried that because I was deaf that I might get hurt being around tractors and machinery all day.

Since coming into care it’s been a series of firsts for me. First car ride, first time with wearing a collar, walking on a lead, first visit to the vet, a café, first time to the beach and first time living in a home for real! I think I’ve done really well to have picked everything up so quickly.

I’m also learning my basic hand signals and so far I’ve learned “sit” which comes in handy when I’m waiting patiently for my meals. I also know “wait”, “stop” and “no”. I’m crate trained and toilet trained.

I’m getting so much better walking on lead and when we get to a café I lay down quietly or doze off and dream of you as my foster parents to finish their meal. I love going to the beach for my walk and I’m learning that sniff walks are great too.
I love car rides! I wish I could stick my head out the window and catch every car that goes by but apparently, that’s not allowed so I still need some training in that area.

I would love a home that can give me a structured routine, regular exercise, and are happy to continue with my training. I would prefer a quiet home with not too many people coming and going.

I have a mild case of CCD (Canine Compulsive Disorder) which is sort of like OCD in people. In my case, I like to chase shadows it’s being managed with medication and behavior modification training and I'm doing pretty well.

I’m happy to live with another dog but only if they are calm and friendly like my foster brother. Unfortunately, I don't think I could live with cats pocket pets though.

Do you think I could fit into your life?
