Deaf dogs are often misunderstood before they are ever truly known.
Too often, people hear the word deaf and assume a dog will be harder to train, harder to manage, or need more care than they can give. That assumption costs good dogs the homes they deserve.
The truth is often the opposite.
Deaf dogs can be incredibly focused, deeply connected to their people, and highly responsive to consistent visual communication. With fewer sound-based distractions, training can be clear, calm, and rewarding.
That is why Hear No Evil exists — not just to rescue deaf dogs, but to help change the story around them.

Why deaf dogs deserve a different conversation
A disability label can make people assume a dog will need too much, ask too much, or be too difficult.
But deaf dogs are not broken dogs. They are dogs who experience the world differently.
Many deaf dogs are wonderfully engaged because they are tuned in to visual cues and body language. Training can become more focused. Communication can become more intentional. The bond can become incredibly strong.
They do not need pity. They need understanding, the right environment, and a chance to show people who they really are.
